One of the most forceful grouping of Home Army existed in the Electric Commuter Rail. Sworn railwaymen of HA were responsible for the transfer of the weapon, intelligence and counterintelligence. The personnel of the rail also tried to protect passengers by warning them from searches and round-ups and by issuing false cards. After the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, the railwaymen managed to save a large group of displaced people from incarcerating in the temporary camp. Warsaw’s Infant Jesus Hospital has been also evacuated to Grodzisk Maz. by means of ECR.
